User feedback prompted a shift to an all-digital architecture for phase two. The new configuration places 4K micro-displays closer to the eye, yielding roughly 70 percent greater field of view than legacy analog night-vision devices while preserving daytime AR symbology. Additional cameras and refined retention mechanics reduce mass; the complete display assembly weighs approximately 110 grams.
Beyond the contracted baseline, Anduril is funding internal development of voice-activated controls, extra sensors, and on-device frontier models that can run locally without continuous cloud connectivity. Interface refinements have collapsed multi-step menu sequences into two-button actions, addressing earlier complaints about cumbersome controls. The company plans to deliver 170 phase-two prototypes for testing beginning in late January or early February, with manufacturing capacity already scaled to support low-rate production if the Army proceeds to a down-select and award decision in fiscal 2028.
