Eco Wave Power is applying NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform and Omniverse libraries to turn ocean wave motion into electricity for coastal facilities, including AI data centers. The company attaches compact floaters to existing breakwaters and sea walls, where the high density of seawater allows compact devices to capture more energy per unit area than wind turbines. All sensitive components—sensors, hydraulic converters, and control computers—are housed on shore, protecting them from storm damage that previously limited similar systems.
NVIDIA Omniverse digital twins let engineers simulate wave patterns, structural loads, and deployment layouts before any hardware is installed, reducing engineering risk and shortening planning cycles. Once operational, the same AI stack performs real-time predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and environmental forecasting by continuously analyzing sensor data from the floaters and surrounding ocean conditions.
Because wave energy is less variable than solar or wind, it can supply power around the clock. In the Los Angeles pilot, AI software schedules compute-intensive workloads to align with predicted periods of higher wave activity, enabling the data center to run entirely off wave-generated electricity without drawing from the grid. Additional projects are under way in Jaffa Port, the Port of Leixões, Suao, and Mumbai, each developed with local energy partners and aimed at serving industrial and computing loads located near ports.
