The full Claude Desktop experience on AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry

Summary
Anthropic now delivers the complete Claude Desktop application to enterprise customers running workloads on AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry. The single client combines the familiar chat interface with Claude Cowork for delegated research and document tasks and Claude Code for agentic development work, removing the previous restriction that limited those cloud-hosted deployments to only the Cowork and Code surfaces.
IT administrators retain full control over inference location by configuring the regions served by their chosen cloud provider, while conversation history remains stored on the local device. Policy templates exported from the setup console can be distributed through existing management platforms such as Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, or Jamf, and an offline installer supports air-gapped environments. Single sign-on integrates with IAM Identity Center, Workforce Identity Federation, Microsoft Entra ID, or any OIDC provider, eliminating the need for shared credentials on end-user machines.
Granular rollout is enabled by separate policy keys for each surface, allowing organizations to grant chat and Cowork access to non-technical teams while limiting Claude Code to engineering groups and then expanding permissions as adoption increases. A model guard prevents accidental routing to non-Claude models, including in GovCloud deployments. Data connectors can be restricted to approved endpoints, and an optional Microsoft 365 connector runs entirely on the device or through a tenant-allowlisted Entra application, supporting even GCC High and DoD environments when strict residency rules apply.
Why it matters
This update is highly relevant for Dutch product teams and builders as it provides secure, localized deployment options for Claude's advanced tools like Claude Code. The ability to control cloud regions for inference and store data locally directly addresses strict EU and Dutch data privacy, GDPR, and compliance requirements.
