Introducing Claude Tag

Summary

Anthropic has introduced Claude Tag, a Slack-based integration that lets Enterprise and Team customers add Claude as a shared team member. Administrators grant the model access to chosen channels along with selected tools, data sources, and codebases. Once connected, any participant can mention @Claude to hand off tasks such as writing code, retrieving metrics, or investigating support tickets, while the model continues working after the initial request.

The system maintains a single instance of Claude per channel, allowing multiple users to view ongoing work and resume conversations without repeating context. Over time the model accumulates channel history and permitted external data to build tacit knowledge of the team’s projects. When ambient mode is enabled, it can surface relevant updates from connected sources and reopen stalled threads on its own. Tasks run asynchronously, so users can assign work and move on while Claude schedules and executes steps across hours or days.

Access remains tightly scoped: memories and tool permissions stay confined to the channels defined by administrators, preventing leakage between domains such as sales and engineering. Organizations can also set token budgets at both company and channel level and review complete activity logs. Claude Tag currently runs on Opus 4.8 and replaces the prior Claude in Slack app; eligible customers receive a launch credit and a 30-day migration window.

Why it matters

This update introduces a new paradigm for human-AI collaboration within existing workflows, directly impacting how product teams build and debug. Its enterprise-grade access controls and data scoping make it highly viable for Dutch organizations adhering to strict data governance.
