New usage analytics and updated spend controls for enterprises

OpenAI introduces new spend controls and usage analytics for ChatGPT Enterprise, helping organizations manage costs and scale AI with confidence.

Summary

OpenAI has added credit usage analytics and refined spend controls to ChatGPT Enterprise, giving workspace administrators a single view of consumption across ChatGPT and Codex. In the Global Admin Console, administrators can now examine credit trends over time, identify the heaviest users, and break down spend by individual, product, or model. The same data is also exposed through a unified Cost API so organizations can import the figures into their own reporting systems for further analysis.

Spend controls have been extended beyond the earlier custom-role limits. Administrators can now define a default workspace limit, apply tighter or looser caps to specific groups, and create individual overrides for users whose workloads exceed the baseline. End users see their remaining credit balance in workspace settings and can submit requests for additional credits, supplying a short description of the intended work so administrators can approve or deny on a case-by-case basis.

These features address two recurring enterprise concerns: understanding where AI usage is generating value and keeping total spend predictable as adoption grows. The changes are available immediately to all ChatGPT Enterprise workspaces; administrators access the new tools directly in the Billing section of the Global Admin Console, while regular users can monitor their personal usage through workspace settings.

Why it matters

Direct product update on enterprise AI tooling with actionable admin workflows for usage monitoring and cost controls. Relevant for Dutch product teams scaling ChatGPT/Codex deployments under budget constraints.
